Why has God raised up the ministry of BridgeHome?
To see the nation of Japan transformed from the Land of the Rising Sun to the Land of the Risen Son.
The future of any nation rests upon the shoulders of the young; Christianity is always one generation away from extinction. God had directed us to minister among the young people of Japan who study here in the United States. They are 30% more likely to become Christians while living here and each year around 1700 Japanese students return home from studying abroad as Christians!
They are the new generation and it is through them that God will shape the future of the Church in Japan. But tragically, as many as 70% to 80% of them will fall away from their faith within the first two years of returning home. If they are the hope and future of the Church in Japan, if the spiritual health and vitality of Japan rests upon them, what will the Church look like ten years from today?
Why does BridgeHome exist?
The ministry of BridgeHome was raised up by God to do four things.
- To bring the gospel to Japanese students, scholars and businessmen in ways that are culturally sensitive and relevant to their lives in Japan.
- To disciple them for a lifetime of love and service to the Lord and to equip & prepare them to become effective disciple-makers in Japan.
- To follow up with the care they need in Japan through personal interaction and by connecting them with others in faithful, supportive fellowships.
- To train others ministering to Japanese to better prepare students to remain strong in their faith after they have returned home.
